Empower yourself this summer

Join Badlands Karate together with SKFitness for our Summer Self-Defense Series, designed specifically for women ages 10 and up. Starting on Thursday, June 18th.

No prior experience is necessary to gain practical skills, build confidence, and learn to navigate high-stress situations effectively.

What you will learn

This six-week course focuses on practical self-defense, improved awareness, and enhanced confidence. We equip you with the understanding to respond effectively during high-stress situations. While you will sweat, this is not a fitness class, cardio kickboxing, or movie-style martial arts program.

Personal safety & awareness

Learn to enhance your personal safety and develop a strong sense of situational awareness.

Boundary setting & de-escalation

Master verbal de-escalation techniques and effective boundary setting to avoid conflict.

Escaping dangerous situations

Acquire skills for escaping dangerous situations and surviving physical confrontation with controlled force application.

Our goal is preparedness, confidence, and survival

We aim to improve your preparedness, confidence, and survival skills, not to encourage violence. This program focuses on equipping you with the tools to stay safe.

Why our program is different

We believe self-defense must be practical, realistic, legally defensible, pressure-tested, safe to train, and accessible to beginners. Many programs fail by teaching only cooperative drills or unrealistic techniques. Our course includes controlled scenario training with padded instructors and role players.

Experience true self-defense

Participants will experience what it feels like to defend themselves under stress, escape grabs and holds, create distance, strike with intent, make quick decisions, and function while fatigued or overwhelmed. The purpose is survival, escape, and protection, not simulating "winning a fight."
